SocialChef Terms of Service

The Basics

Hi! These are the rules for using SocialChef. We've tried to make them as clear and friendly as possible, but they're still legally binding terms. By using our app, you're agreeing to follow these rules.

Who we are: SocialChef is made by VinterKraft LTD, a UK company. You can reach us at legal@socialchef.io if you have questions.

What SocialChef Does

SocialChef helps you organize recipes that you choose to share with us. Here's how it works:

  • Share recipes from Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube that you have the right to share
  • Organize your recipes into collections however you like
  • Edit and personalize recipes with your own notes and photos
  • Sync everything across all your devices
  • Export recipes when you want to share or back them up

Important: You can only share content that you own or have permission to share. We don't automatically import content - everything requires your active choice to share it with us.

Your Account

Creating an Account

Sign up with your email or Apple ID. Please give us accurate info - it helps us help you better.

Age Requirements

  • Under 13: You need a parent or guardian to create your account and manage your data
  • 13-17: Enhanced privacy protections apply to your account
  • 18+: Standard adult account features

We use age verification systems to ensure appropriate protections are in place.

Keeping Your Account Safe

  • Keep your login details secure
  • Tell us immediately if someone else accesses your account (support@socialchef.io)
  • You're responsible for what happens with your account

Deleting Your Account

Want to leave? No problem. You can delete your account:

  • In the app: Go to profile settings → Delete Account
  • By email: Contact support@socialchef.io

Important: This permanently deletes all your recipes and data within 30 days - we can't get it back.

The Rules

What You Can Do

  • Use SocialChef for personal recipe organization
  • Share recipes from social media that you have the right to share
  • Edit and personalize your imported recipes
  • Export your recipes for personal use

What You Can't Do

  • Share content you don't own or have permission to use
  • Use the app for anything illegal or harmful
  • Try to hack or break the app
  • Use bots or automated tools
  • Pretend to be someone else
  • Bulk import content without proper rights
  • Use it for commercial purposes without permission

Content You Share

When you share recipes with SocialChef:

  • You promise you have the right to share it - this is really important for everyone's protection
  • You're responsible for ensuring it's appropriate and doesn't violate anyone's rights
  • We may review content to ensure it complies with our policies and legal requirements

About Recipe Content and Copyright

Your Original Recipes

Your original recipes and notes belong to you. We just store them to provide the service.

Imported Recipes - This is Important!

You can only import recipes you have permission to share. This means:

  • Recipes you created yourself ✓
  • Recipes shared with your explicit permission ✓
  • Public recipes where you have verified sharing rights ✓
  • Any recipe you're unsure about ✗

The original creator still owns their content. We're just helping you organize it for personal use under fair dealing principles.

Copyright Compliance

  • Only import content you have rights to use
  • Don't bulk import or systematically copy content
  • Respect creators' intellectual property
  • When in doubt, don't import it

Our App

The SocialChef app itself (the design, features, and technology) belongs to us and is protected by law.

AI and Automated Processing

How We Use AI

We use artificial intelligence to:

  • Extract recipe information from content you share
  • Organize and categorize your recipes
  • Improve accuracy over time

Your Rights Regarding AI

  • You can object to automated processing of your data
  • You can request human review of AI decisions that affect you
  • You can ask for explanations of how our AI systems work
  • You have the right to correction if AI makes mistakes

Privacy and Data Protection

We care deeply about your privacy. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what data we collect and how we use it.

Reporting Concerns

If you see something that concerns you:

  • In-app reporting: Use the report button on any content
  • Email us: safety@socialchef.io
  • Urgent safety issues: Contact us immediately

We take all reports seriously and investigate promptly.

Premium Features

Free Version

SocialChef is free to use with all basic features.

Premium Subscription

We offer premium features with extra functionality:

  • Clear pricing - No hidden costs, ever
  • Easy cancellation - Cancel anytime, no questions asked
  • Renewal reminders - We'll warn you before charges
  • Fair refunds - Reasonable refund policies apply

Payment is processed through the App Store, Google Play, or Stripe.

Subscription Rights

Under UK law, you have specific rights with subscriptions:

  • Clear information before you subscribe
  • Cancellation rights during cooling-off periods
  • Refund rights in certain circumstances
  • Protection from unfair contract terms

Third-Party Services

We work with trusted companies to make SocialChef work:

  • Supabase - securely stores your data in Europe
  • Sentry - helps us catch and fix bugs
  • AI services - power our recipe extraction (with your data protected)
  • Social media platforms - where you import recipes from

When you use these services through our app, their rules apply too, and we have proper data protection agreements in place.

Important Legal Disclaimers

Service Availability

We try to keep SocialChef running smoothly, but sometimes things go wrong. We can't promise 100% uptime.

Recipe Accuracy

Our AI does its best to extract recipe information, but always double-check recipes before cooking. We can't guarantee perfect accuracy, and cooking involves inherent risks.

Our Liability

We can't exclude liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Any liability that can't be excluded by UK law

For other issues: Our liability is limited to the amount you paid us (which might be nothing if you're using the free version).

Content Moderation and Enforcement

We use both automated systems and human review to:

  • Filter inappropriate content
  • Enforce copyright policies
  • Maintain community standards
  • Comply with legal requirements

If you violate these terms, we might:

  • Remove offending content
  • Temporarily suspend your account
  • Permanently terminate your account
  • Report serious violations to authorities

Termination

You Can Leave Anytime

Delete your account through the app settings or contact us. We'll miss you!

If We Need to Terminate Your Account

We might suspend or delete your account if you:

  • Repeatedly violate these terms
  • Engage in illegal activities
  • Pose a safety risk to other users

We'll try to warn you first unless it's a serious violation.

Cross-Border Legal Issues

Governing Law

These terms are governed by English law, but we respect that our users live everywhere:

  • EU users have additional rights under EU law
  • Different countries may have different consumer protections
  • We'll comply with applicable local laws where we operate

Disputes

We prefer to resolve issues through discussion, but formal disputes will be handled in the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to These Terms

We might update these terms occasionally:

  • We'll notify you through the app or by email
  • Material changes get extra notice and explanation
  • Keep using the app after changes means you agree to the new terms
  • Don't agree? You can delete your account
